Your server may be slow so 2 sessions are trying to write to the file at the same time. delete also any files in the directory data/lock. |

My experiance with that error was the permissions on the files. Check to make sure you have the proper permissions set up. For a quick test to see if it is your permissions chmod everything to 777. This is if the problem is not intermitant. |

I'll see if anything is lingering around in that folder. Its a brand new server so I would highly doubt it to be a speed problem.
Its also a Windows box but I'll double check the permissions.
Thanks,

There were files in the Data/Lock directory so I deleted them. I'll see if this fixes my problems.
Thanks again,

Re: Cannot Lock file error |

Files can be left in the lock directory either if your server crashes during the file write operation or you more than one admin session tried to writeto the file and it took more than 15 seconds. AGain that may not happen again of if your server is too slow. Try to access the admin from one browser session and save settings at one time. |

Re: Cannot Lock file error |

I haven't had a file lock error since I deleted the files in that directory. Looks like it just got held up there and never was removed.
Thanks,
