Searching/Listing based on zip code? |

Hi - the client that I'm designing this classifieds site for is asking me if there is a way to refine the search/listing so that when you place an ad or go looking for an ad that's been listed can it be done by zip/postal code?\
\
Basically he wants to know if there's a way to localize the search and listing even more than just having it done by state without having to make categories for every individual city/town. That way a person can just enter in their zip code and any ads that are within that area will come up? |

I tried to use the 'what is this' button to get some help on that but the link doesn't work. Anyway, ok so if I'm in the Custom Fields Manager how do I create a new Field ID so that I can use it for a zip code/postal code search? Then, how do I go about implementing that into my classifieds section?\
\
Also, on the main classifieds page is it possible for me to insert text at the top of the page to the right of my main logo? There's lots of whitespace that I'd like to be able to make use of if possible?\
\
Thanks! |

I'm still unclear as to how to use that 'Custom Fields Manager'. I see how to click through it, but am unsure about how to create a field that will allow users to enter a zip/postal code and have it be searchable in the main Place Ad section.\
\
I think I want it to be a 'text box', 'active' and 'searchable', but other than that, the rest of the headings down the page are a mystery to me. |

OK, I have customized the 'General Textbook' so that it is now called Zip or Postal Code. I have selected 'searchable' on the Custom Fields manager, and it now appears on the place ad or search page - but on the search page it's not at the top with the rest of the search options...\
\
How do I go about making it 'searchable' with the "with all of the words", "with the exact phrase", "with at least one of the words", etc. so that if someone enters a postal or zip code, it can be searched for? \
\
Is there a section somewhere on this site that I can review? It's a bit confusing now. |

I have moved the tag where I want it and on the page it looks fine. But on the 'Search' page when I enter the postal code information in the text box, and then hit the 'search' button, I get this error:\

In future releases of this software, will there be a way to do a search for ads, say, in a 100 km radius of a specific zip code or postal code? That way users could search for ads in their general area. This would be extremely helpful compared to the way it is now. |
