Create New Categories

Please enter one category name per line and press enter at the end of each line.
Categories will be created under the current category shown by the guide bar.
You can create any number of categories.

Categories Tree

This link will show all the current categories and subcategories in tree format for easier navigation. Please note for large number of categories, loading this page on slow internet connection may take several minutes.

Update Categories Count

This option will calculate all the categories actual count and update the categories count for display for the user and for the admin side.

Create New Categories

Enter the new categories you want to create in this box, please enter each category on one line and press enter key at the end of each line. The categories will be created under the current category level. If you are at the Top>> level then the categories created will be main or root categories. If you are at any other level then the categories will be created as subcategories of this level as indicated by the level guide bar.

Action

Each category has two actions options Delete and Edit. Delete will open a new page listing the category and all its subcategories to delete before it actually deletes the category to make sure you want to delete the category and all its subcategories. The Edit category option will open a new menu for configuring the category with many options.

Delete

If you want to delete a category and all its subcategories click on "Delete" under action in the same category row. The delete command will bring first a confirmation page showing the category selected to be deleted and all its subcategories that will be deleted if any.

Edit

The category Edit option will bring a configuration menu for each category. The configuration menus contains the following items:

Category ID #

This is a unique ID number assigned by the program for each category and subcategory and can not be changed.

Category Active

This option will allow the admin to activate the category or deactivate it at any time without loosing the data or deleting the category. If the category is inactive then it will not be shown for the user and will not be able to post or browse it at all. If the category is set to active then it will be displayed for the user only and he can browse it also and search its contents.

Accept Submissions

This option allow the admin to control what category can accept new submissions or not. For example if you want to allow the user to submit only to the subcategories but not to the main or root categories. Note in order for the user to submit to the category it must be active to be displayed for the user and must be set to Accept Submissions.

Category Teaser

If checked it will allow this category to be displayed in the category list under its parent category.

Sort Order

This option allows sorting the categories not only alphabetic but also will be ordered ascending according to the numerical value of this option.

Category Name

This text box will display the name of the category used to create it. You can rename the category by changing this text to anything else. Category names will be automatically displayed also in the language file categories.pm where you can change the name or translate to other languages.

Description

The description text box can be used to enter any text or html that can be displayed under this category if this option is selected from the categories options menu from the options Home Page Category Teasers Display Mode or Category Teasers Display Mode.

Category Meta Title

This is Title meta tag that will be inserted in all the pages generated for that category and will be inserted between the title tags <TITLE> and </TITLE>. If this is left empty it will be set to the default meta title set in General Options menu.

Category Meta Description

This is the description meta tag that will be inserted in all the pages generated for that category. If this is left empty it will be set to the default meta title set in General Options menu.

Category Meta Keywords

This is the keywords meta tag that will be inserted in all the pages generated for that category. If this is left empty it will be set to the default meta title set in General Options menu.
